Container gardening is a great way to grow plants, vegetables and herbs without needing a lot of space. Herbs do especially well and can be grown right outside your kitchen door. In this video, you’ll learn how to use an old farmer’s market basket to make a great container garden. Fill it with your favorite herbs and your cooking will be full of flavor all summer long.

Hey growing from seeds isn’t hard start with the right soil. Use potting soil and mix in alot of extra peat moss and vermiculite or perlite so you have a very light, almost sterile medium with few lumps. Then follow the directions on the seed packet as far as planting depth and sunlight.
See our video at icandevelopment to understand how to grow people not plants!
i would like to know how to grow from seeds this is allready grown almost
thank you for the idea , i was wondering if there was a solution to optional fertalizer or plant foods / besides miracle grow?
you’d think a gardener would care about the planet earth too. “MIracle gro? diapers?”
i know what a concept
CONTAINERS WITH HERBS IN THEM! OH MY EFFIN GOSH.
Thanks for this great wisdom.
Eff Mee… Every one is an expert.
I’ve never had any substantial success in container gardening for food that will keep you alive. Herbs yes. But try to stay alive with container gardening you are kidding yourself.
grow your herbs, and pretty flowers.
You need substantial fertile earth, and irrigation into the soil to grow crops to survive.
Got a potted plant? You must be near a Whole Foods store to make you complete.
I’ve used a lot of containers for herbs over the years from baskets to porch boxes to large clay pots. I think the key, as with herb beds, is matching the plants that have the same needs and to be realistic about the size of the plants
You should stop trying to talk like a person from Japan. You lack the education to carry it off. First, they are much better at writing English that you are. They also were the people to show the world how to garden in small areas.
I loved that reply, how dare that person ask a rude question like that! What wrong with people?
amazing work, dont be fooled by my username, really great selection too!
Go play with your Ninja sword and stop complaining about America.
I would just water everyday..lining the basket with sheet moss first would really help to hold in moisture, that’s what I would do.
No, it’s not
Not necessarily. Apparently the polymers DO break down into acrlyimide, which is a known carginogen and neurotoxin, especially in the presence of UV, but there’s no evidence to show that acrylimide is taken up by the root system- to the contrary, in fact. I guess it’s all about informed decision-making.
unless, of course, you want to invite people you really don’t like over for dinner……..
You should NEVER use Soil Moist in containers with vegetables, herbs or ANYTHING you are going to eat. Those crystals contain NEUROTOXINS!!!
in my country, which is japan, nobody have own garden because not enough space. i envy american and europa people where everybody has their own garden, it must be nice surely, no?
Which product was from Monsanto?
Garden expert, Ron Wilson, from whom I first learned the now famous “diaper liner” method, said the polymers in the diapers are a different than what’s in the commercial polymers like “Soil Moist”. Diaper polymers don’t last as long. Ron agrees that if the diapers are scented then don’t use them. It might be cheaper to go the Soil Moist route. And hey, it’s your choice: cloth rags as someone suggested, commercial polymers, etc. Or you can always do what our folks did: water regularly! ~Rita
The diaper will last the whole season - it takes up water and then releases it back into the soil when needed.

Not if your a greenie.
There all kinds of problems linked with our societies over use of plastic. Yeah, it’s convenient, but not so good for us long term.
I find container pots REALLY expensive. Baskets are a good idea, but the plastic????? I don’t know?
thanks for the nice idea. is it true I can use diapers in between the soil? do I have to change it from time to time?
